Fire Pump And Fire Hose Reel

Fire Pump

A fire pump is designed to increase the water pressure and provided with intake and discharge piping capable of furnishing ample volume and pressure for fire protection. The pump can be started manually but is usually arranged to start automatically upon drop in system pressure or the activation of a fire suppression system. Automatic starting requires a controller. Engines for operation the pump can be electric or diesel. Fire pump are needed whenever pressure requirement of a fire protection system exceed the capabilities of the available water supply.

The Pump set comprises of the following units:

Jockey Pump or Booster Pump

Electrical Pump

Diesel Engine Pump

Jockey Pump Controller

Non Return Valve or Check Valve

Non Return Valve or Check Valve

A non-return valve can be fitted to ensure that a medium flows through a pipe in the right direction, where pressure conditions may otherwise cause reversed flow . A non-return valve allows a medium to flow in only one direction. When the pump starts the mechanism moves to open position and enables the liquid flow without any hindrance. When the pump stops the mechanism takes the firm position against the metal seat because of its weight andbackpressure. We offer a wide range of NRV with different size and capacity.

Gate Valve

Gate Valve

The gate valves are designed to stop, allow or throttle the flow of a process fluid. Gate valves, one of the original valve designs, are ideally suited for on/off, primarily liquid, service. A gate valve functions by lifting a rectangular or circular gate out of the path of the fluid. When the valve is fully open, gate valves are full bore, meaning there is nothing to obstruct the flow because the gate and pipeline diameter have the same opening. This bore diameter also determines the valve size. An advantage of this full-bore design is very low friction loss, which saves energy and reduces total cost of ownership.

Pressure Reducing Valve

Pressure Reducing Valve

The Pressure Reducing valve reduces the pressure of the water that goes through it, and is used to obtain a regulated and constant value at its outlet. It is installed at the water mains. It protects the whole installation from problems due to excess pressure. The pressure reducing valves are completely automatic. The Pressure reducing valve is mainly used in the application where a controlled pressure is required at its output. We offer a wide range of PRV at different pressure ratings and features.

Diesel Engine Battery

Diesel Engine Battery

Diesel engine-driven fire pump assemblies are commonly installed for backup systems to electric-drive fire pumps, or where electrical power may be unreliable. The required power source for electrically starting diesel engine-driven fire pumps is storage batteries. According to NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection, each diesel engine driving a fire pump must have at least two storage battery units for starting. We offer a wide range of Batteries from 50 Ah to 200 Ah.

Pressure Switch

Pressure Switch

The controller is furnished with a pressure switch to control the start and the stop sequence of the fire pump. The Pressure Switch with independent set and reset points which are adjustable throughout the entire operating range of the switch. The minimum deadband (minimum span between set and reset points) may be obtained at any point in the operating range of the switch. When the pressure drops below the setting, a snap action switch closes energizing the built in pump control relay and turns the pump on. When the pressure increases above the high setting, the snap action switch opens de-energizing the built in pump control relay and turns the pump off. This control device is designed for use as an operating control in applications sensing air, water, or any fluid not harmful to the pressure connection, diaphragm or nitrile pressure-sealing O-ring.

Pressure Gauges

Pressure Gauges

The pressure gauge allows direct reading of the pressure, and thus allows precise adjustment of the pressure reducing valve to local installation conditions.

Pressure Gauges for sprinkler systems and fire pumps are designed for use with air or water.

These gauges are usually of the Bourdon tube type.

The moving parts are fabricated with appropriate corrosion-resistant materials.

These gauges are calibrated with a hydraulic testing unit by adjusting the dial pointer to read correctly at known pressures.

Dial marking subdivisions correspond to the maximum accuracy of the gauge.

To minimize possible damage and provide maximum accuracy, gauges should be selected with scales of about twice the maximum system pressure.

We offer a wide range of pressure gauge ranging from 0 to 600 PSI with corrosion resistance steel casing.

Fire Hose Reel

Fire hose reels are used by a wide number of industries and commonly located in buildings and business premises for fire protection purposes. They are designed to provide a controlled water supply to suppress any possible fire risk that involve Class A combustible solids. Either the water mains or water tanks can be utilized to provide the pressurized supply required. The Fire hose reels are manufactured and approved to British Standard (European standard) BS EN 671-1. Compliance to the stringent test required by the above standard guarantees excellent durability and performance. Where the fire hose reel is to be installed in an external situation or an aggressive environment, it shall be Protected by a cabinet or other suitable means. The preferable location for any fire hose is no more than a meter from the floor and they should be mounted securely with the mounting brackets provided. We offer a wide selection of fire hose reel, 3/4 and 1, swing and fixed type, manual and automatic. The swinging hose reel is ideal for recessed or surface mounting - the swinging arm on the hose reels is designed with a double joint allowing the hose reel to be installed on the left or the right side making this universal and ideal for any installation. Automatic hose reels are available with an internal valve built into the hose reel unit. The internal valve will open fully after three revolutions of the hose reel as the hose is pulled out. The automatic hose reel valve will close when the hose is wound back onto the reel. The fixed hose reel will provide a standard mount as shown. Fire hose reels comes in 2 main types. The first is an automatic reel and the second a manual reel. They can be recess mounted, cabinet mounted, fixed or swinging. In fact they can be manufactured to suite most placements. The main difference between the automatic and manual fire hose reels are as follows:

Automatic fire hose reel

The automatic fire hose reel is designed as a pull and run system, this means that as you pull out the hose the turning motion of the fire hose reel turns on the water supply allowing the user to get water very quickly and without fumbling with taps.

Manual fire hose reel

The manual fire hose reel is a cheaper unit but requires the operator to turn the water on first before running the hose out. Its use can be hindered by sticking stop-cock taps and seized valves. The preferred type of fire hose reel is the automatic reel as the valve is contained inside the reel and is therefore protected.
